Migration represents both an opportunity and a challenge. While well-managed migration may foster progress and welfare in both source and host countries, its mismanagement may put social cohesion, security and sovereignty at risk. Because migration is rapidly evolving, knowledge needs to be constantly updated and shared with policy makers. As a global phenomenon, its study requires innovative cooperation between scholars around the world.
The Migration Policy Centre (MPC) conducts research that is at the same time scientifically robust and policy-relevant at European level, targeting both policymakers and politicians. It includes several large research projects, most of them co-financed by the European Union.
